WHAT IS SENIOR GIFT?
The Senior Gift campaign is a volunteer-driven, class-wide effort that allows us to come together in support of one another and future Harvard students. It is a long-standing tradition for members of the Senior Class. We hope you will join us in making your Senior Gift!
WHERE DOES THE MONEY FROM SENIOR GIFT GO?
The gifts we make as Seniors do NOT go into the University endowment. Rather, these gifts go into current-use, immediate impact funds. This means they are immediately put towards maintaining and enhancing the experiences that make Harvard uniquely ours, including financial aid, advising, educational programs, the arts, our libraries, athletics, and House life.
When making your Senior Gift, you can choose to support Areas of Greatest Need, Financial Aid, or Student Experience. Gifts made to any of these three areas are used immediately to help fund undergraduate life at the College.
Area of Greatest Need: Gifts to Areas of Greatest Need are used as flexible-use funds that are built into Harvard’s budget. This money allows the College to respond to new student needs, wants, or requests in the very same year! First-Year Retreat Experience, or FYRE, was first funded with this money.
Financial Aid: Gifts to Financial Aid help maintain Harvard’s financial aid program, which allows us to remain need-blind in our admissions. This ensures any qualified student can take advantage of the Harvard experience.
Student Experience: Gifts to the Student Experience fund existing programs that make the Harvard Experience what it is! Programs and initiatives such as House Life, FAP, FOP, Advising are funded by Student Experience dollars. Now, as an existing program, FYRE is funded by Student Experience dollars.
WHAT IS THE ASSOCIATES COMMUNITY?
The Associates program is a recognition opportunity for donors that give to the College at a leadership level. By giving at the Associates level ($100+ for seniors), you join a community of generous alumni and friends who provide the annual support that helps Harvard sustain core commitments, seize new opportunities and respond to emerging needs. Senior Gift Associates are invited to attend a reception for Associates members on Class Day. If you are interested in supporting Senior Gift at the Associates level, you can make your gift here.
WHY DID WE GIVE TO SENIOR GIFT?
We give because we understand that the valuable opportunities that have shaped our Harvard experience could not have been possible without donations from Senior Gift. Senior Gift is our opportunity as a class to come together to support current and future Harvard students, and play an important role in sustaining and improving the Harvard experience. Any contribution, no matter the size, has an immediate and valuable impact on the College experience.
